Who we are

We are a home where Christians and the curious, the lonely and the outcast, gather to learn about Christ in a safe, affirming, and nurturing environment, supporting one another in God's love, hope, and faith. And, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will continue to strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

OuR History

The origin of Journey Church dates back to 1895 when the church was founded in Orangevale. The Church moved to Folsom in 1935 and became known as Folsom Presbyterian Church. Developing the present site on Blue Ravine began with the land purchase in 1960 and after much effort and fund raising the congregation held its first service in the new building on July 13, 1969. With additions through the years the Church today enjoys a lovely campus in the middle of Folsom, convenient to the whole community. Though the church’s name was changed to Journey Church in the 2000, it remains a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA) welcoming all who wish to worship God.

In February 2015 Journey Church went through a congregational split. A small remnant of the original congregation – with the help of the Sacramento Presbytery – started the process of rebuilding Journey Church of Folsom.  Our congregation is made up of newly baptized Christians, long standing members, and new members that reject the fundamentalist teachings of other faith communities.

OuR Vision for the Future

We strive to follow God’s call for Journey Church to grow as a faith family, rooted in the transforming love, grace, and justice of the Triune God, and to embody these gifts in our community and in the world.

Our Vision for Mission

Our mission is to graciously provide hope for all those hungry for God’s love.- Journey Church supports local food banks, Kairos Prison Ministries, Powerhouse Ministries, Angel Tree, and other outreach opportunities as they arise. We cooperate with Hope Presbyterian in their Mexico Outreach spring break program, and we have commissioned one of our own members to participate in a mission to help in Nicaragua, and to work with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance organization.

Community Involvement

We place a strong emphasis on serving those in our community. Our facilities are used to address a variety of needs in the Folsom area. We provide space for addiction programs, a prison ministry, scouts, a Swedish school, a community pre-school, prayer meetings, and of course, weekly worship. We support the community food bank. We feel called to help with the growing homeless population in Folsom. We are also rebuilding an international support element in our mission program.
